During a sound check in Lawrence, KS, Josh noticed that even though her Emperor was always on and in vibrato mode, Madison kept reaching down to switch the settings to create another faster and deeper vibrato tone for a particular song. Sensing an opportunity to make it easier to use during live shows, Josh developed the idea for an entirely new stompbox that suited Madison’s needs, and soon she was touring with that first prototype.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eMadison traveled doing live shows and sessions for her new album with the prototype for a full year (you may recognize it as the black nondescript stompbox labeled “BLONDE?”), but we’re releasing it officially as the newest member of the JHS lineup and as Madison Cunningham’s signature pedal: the Artificial Blonde.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eAt its core, the Artificial Blonde is a very simplistic approach to Madison’s signature sound: a never off, always on, slightly 3D pitch vibrato sound. The secondary footswitch switches between the two speed\/depth preset sections. It’s a true pitch vibrato modulation pedal with two easy-to-access modes for live use. The Volume control enables you to set the overall volume however you like it, either dialed back, at unity, or boosted.  A great feature of the Kodiak is that you can turn the Mix knob all the way down and use the Volume to boost your amp or other pedals, acting as a preamp or slightly driven boost. The Speed knob is a manual control for the speed of the tremolo, which you can also set with the on-board tap-tempo switch. The Mix knob controls how deep the tremolo is perceived, from fully clean to fully wet. The Ratio control gives you the ability to dial in faster speeds that are perfectly sync'd with the BPM of your tap.  You can choose from quarter notes, eighth notes, \"triplets,\" or sixteenth notes.  The Wave control gives you four different wave variations to choose from: Sine, Rhythmic, Square, and Ramp. The Sine wave is a classic amp-like tremolo sound, the Rhythmic wave gives you an interesting rhythmic pattern that can be used in many different time-signatures for different effect, the Square wave gives you a more choppy trem sound, and the Ramp wave gives you a warbly type of sound. The Mode toggle selects between two algorithms. Down is Earworm mode, inspired by the now discontinued Way Huge Ringworm. The Tweak knob introduces an auxiliary LFO that adds wobble and movement to the modulation, turning a fixed ring mod into something alive and animated. Up is Green Lantern mode, inspired by the Green Ringer circuit, a wave rectifier that produces a natural-sounding octave effect alongside the ring modulation. In this mode, Tweak blends the octave effect from off to 100%. Used subtly under a solo, it adds a barely-there harmonic presence.
